I thought I would share my repaint of 3461.
It took me 3 months. All work done by myself. Nobody offered to help!

Mark...
Looks like you did a great job! Great color! Now you got to get busy on that 57. If the weather is good bring the Pantera to the PCNC meeting. I know we all would love to see your car.

Nice job! It's always MUCH harder in cramped conditions.

Looks GREAT Mark!

Now tell us what materials/brands you used - primer/sealer, primer, paint, etc. And FWIW, if I had known you were embarking on such a project, I would have dropped by to lend a hand (I'm in San Jose). I need to learn more about this stuff so I can do my own car.

Nice job....the proof is in the final product and it looks great.

It certainly looks cramped in there for access, I did a similar home made spray booth in my garage for my wife's MGB restoration and used two of the three parking spaces and still found it restrictive. My garage is integral with the house and my family was running around spaced out when I sprayed even thjough I was using HVLP. I now also have a 'Harvest Gold' garage floor, work bench, Pantera spares........

Very Nice work Mark! I'm always impressed to see what some guys can accomplish in their own garages.

I am not sure what I more impressed by.
The good looking paint job or the lack of working space!

Thanks to all for the favorable comments. I didn't realize how bad my garage looked until I saw the picture posted. Johnny, you are absolutely correct. It sounds like you have had personal experience with this type of working environment. I would normally borrow paint booth time from friends in the business but none was available this time.
Hello Garth. I haven't talked to you since our 15 pantera caravan across the Golden Gate Bridge last summer. To answer your questions reqarding materials,I have to say I made some wrong choices here. I would normally use a base/clear system either Du pont Chromabase or PPG's Dbu system. Since I knew I would be fighting a dust problem,I decided to revert to my younger days (painted my first car 38 years ago)and use PPG DDL acrylic lacquer. I believe there has been resin change in this product. Rub out which is normally a piece of cake on lacquer proved very difficult and has required constant upkeep. I used DuPont 3240S 2 part primer surfacer. It's expensive at approx $400.00 dollars a gallon with catalyst. This stuff works great, worth the money. Straight to clean metal, builds great, no sealer required with 400 grit prep sand before base color. However, I found that it does not like lacquer. Adhesion was a problem until paint fully cured. I plan to repaint this summer, this time using base/clear as I should have the first time. Someone famous said it dosen't pay to take short cuts. Let me know Garth If you need any more detailed information. I might take you up on that offer to help.

regards... Mark
