Hi Chuck,

I didn't see a price on the site. Was it listed?

Nice car ... can I ask a technical question ? Were the black out parts on a GTS mat black or gloss.

Yes, the update included some details, like the asking price, which is there now... $40K I believe.

Looks like a nice car and a great deal. I wish I had extra $10K laying around.

Not either, really.

OEM GTS paint jobs are getting rare these days, but when you find one, you notice this paint was actually a gloss black with mild metal flake.

The flake is something you will not even notice unless you are pre-aware of it and look for it. It is really subtle.

Larry,

Funny you say that my 79 GTS had a metalflake black and I thought it was 80's ized ... but you say that was original ... wow .. I have to say the underside still has the body # in crayon 9138 ... so your right that was original ... but again another question ..I see so many in flat black ?

Ron, IIRC they all came with a gloss black metalflake paint. Now, I am talking the US version GTS cars - the 150 or so that Ford pimped-up.

And since repainting our cars any damn way you want (as opposed to those OTHER collector cars) is not a problem, maybe a lot of them got flat black repaints?

I think you'll find that GTS cars are what is referred to in Europe as a 'Satin' black. Similar to a semi-gloss here in the US, but the semi gloss has too much sheen.

Mike Drew supplied this photo of an original USA GTS rear deck.

He said the paint was high gloss.

He also wrote:

The Gr4 race cars were flat black, and I believe the Euro GTS cars followed suit for the most part. The USA GTS had a very metallic gloss black finish.
