FYI
Beware of Daniel Evans. He is eBay seller (1955-57). He is listing space save spare inflators for Panteras.

The bottle he sends are not period correct for a Pantera. The bottle has a completely different valve stem adapter neatly hidden by a large plastic cap. In my case the bottle did not even have the brass fitting. He claims that the bottle is correct because the reproduction sticker has the correct FMCO part number. Huh?

He at first refuses a refund and than deducts the original shipping cost. So I ate shipping both ways. Mad

Good to know. It is important to pass this information because it could save someone (us) a lot of grief.

Sounds like he's met you before!

Kidding - thanks for the head's up. I always LOVE paying for shipping of the wrong part, and then paying for the round trip. Makes me giddy.

Can sellers learn that this small 'cost savings' to them is COSTING them many times that is destroyed good will? The internet has this odd way of bringing leeches out of the closet too.

Again, thanks for the warning Jeff.

There are several sellers on EBAY selling these "NOS" period correct inflation canisters. They are, in fact, Datsun/Nissan canisters that have been repainted and had the repro Ford cardboard bases stuck on them. Rampant throughout the Mustang community as well.

Daniel Evans used to advertise NOS Pantera parts in Hemmings, about 10 years ago. I bought a few items from him and had no complaints. I guess eBay brings out the worst in some people.

Would any one be able to tell if this is the correct inflator bottle? I bought this empty bottle a while back to show with my car from, I believe to be a reputable eBayer (barbaram). I was contemplating selling this, but would not want to misrepresent the item if it's not correct. Thanks.

How about someone posting some good clear photos of an original canister. Education is the best defense from buying bogus parts!
Lets see the bottom of the canister and the valve too.

Dennis,
That appears to be a correct bottle. Under the cap should be a brass valve. The label appears to a reproduction cut short at the bottom. But not a big deal.

If you decide to sell it please send me a PM.
Thanks,

Jeff

I know this doesn't add to the value of this thread, but that is the first time I have ever seen an inflator bottle. Fascinating. Does it attach directly to the tire, or is there a hose?
