I will be ready to re-install the engine in about a month. Is it easier to install the engine and trans from the top or up from the bottom - or is it so hard that I should send it to Wilkinson and have him do it? Steve W. says he can install the engine and trans as a unit. Whats the best way?

Thanks

As a unit from the top. Not possible for the block to fit between the frame rails underneath.

Be sure to have at least one extra set of hands helping, and an engine tilt tool.

Once you remove the gull wings and the spine, its like taking the engine out of a pickup truck bed, a lot of room. The hardest part is taking out the upper cross member.

Bob, I Re&Re'd the trans alone this summer, not difficult. Make sure you have the car on jack stands so you can work top and bottom (starter, coolant and fuel lines, ect)

ps while the wing are out, have a look at riv-nuts to place the external nuts on the wing hinge bolts; it will give a much cleaner look.

Thanks for the help. The riv-nuts are a great idea.
