Custom inserts Ansa exhaust tips

Had to find a way to keep them in, and not blow out of the exhaust pipe. Came up with using piano wire as springs. See image. Worked really well, which I learnt first hand when testing it
The springs will also center the insert fairly well.
A before and after sound/ video clip coming up when all four are done.

Btw, I have the Gr3 mufflers that internally are nothing more than a Y-pipe. All good there.
However, the sound is a bit harsh without the inserts, I´m hoping to get a fair amount of treble cut.

How about a little better discription as what the "repair collar" is used for.

onced installed, how do you pull them back out?

Wrap them in fiber glass to absorb more sound.

It seems it is used together with a "ball joint" for doing repairs, in this case for a Peugeot
Note I had to take off approx. 0.5mm all the way around the flared end for a press fit in the exhaust pipe.

The way I got it out was by inserting a bent steel wire that would hook into holes of the perforated pipe and then it could be "wiggled" out.

Done... Definitely quieter. Can´t really say which sound I prefer though. Oh well.

Yeah, I´ll be testing some more. Took a quick drive just now and it does sound, subjectively, better in the car.

The popping only occured once, I looped the same clip. I´m glad it didn´t make the insert blow out!

I forgot to mention that, by chance more or less, the perforated pipe OD is 44.5mm and the outer pipe ID is 54.5mm and so standard size spacer shims fit perfectly, they are 45x55x1.2mm
