Gentlemen, I need suggestions and/or recommendations for finding a reputable engine
mechanic that has worked on a Pantera. I live in North San Diego County, so someone in the San Diego area, Orange County or even Temecula would be Ok.
I have a 73 Cat with a 372 stroker motor and Hillborn EFI. For some reason the idle moved up to 1200 rpm and after working on the secondary linkage ( with help from Andy at Hillborn ) it came down some but not enough.
The problem now is a major one: when I started the car, it was loaded up from working the throttle, so I revved it up to clear it out, got a big bang sound and it shuddered to a stop. It now turns over like it has no compression which leads me to think it broke a cam gear off or the timing chain came apart.
So the criteria is for someone to figure out the problem and if not too major repair it.
Worse case, I will replace the motor, which is why I want someone who has worked on a Pantera since checking the clutch and trans while apart seems prudent.
Thanks in advance for taking time to help me!

I'm sure Jerry at Pantera International Motorsports could take care of you. They sponsor this forum and are probably the closest of the Orange/LA vendors to you in City of Orange.
