depends on how much power you are making.
basically can the std fuel line suck enough fuel flow to feed your engine at full power ?? if not then yes.
When we build cars we usually use 1/2 fuel lines and fittings for 500 hp.

Is that 'bigger than 3/8"' or 'increased to 3/8" in size'?

And what kind of horsepower are you building/making?

Very important to not starve the engine, see the info on this site for fuel systems. When I did mine they were very helpful.

You can't go wrong with 1/2" fuel lines.

Agreed.
also remember if the has a 5/16 outlet, the hose size won't really matter.

Also after much discussion with Mr Finch way back when, He had the right idea. I added a connection from under the tank using the drain plug hole. I can’t remember the fitting Number I used.. it’s a curved fitting from a Porsche oil cooler. And it’s the same as an AN fitting. I left the old line as a breather… Plenty of ground clearance.. Bring the plug to good High performance shop and find a fitting your happy with. (586Hp)

Reference to everything you need by way of fittings to use the fuel tank drain plug as a supply can be found in this thread...
