My deck lid lower shock mount is in the process of fuc*ing breaking *^&$$#&$ !!! What are the options?
1 weld new ones on? 2 Remove them and go to “kick stand” type like the front – May prevent future deck lid flexing/damage. 3 Develop some sort of electric opener? What are my options? Who has nice alternatives to the shocks that are bolt on, preferable no welding….. Pic's are welcome |

WANT GROUP 4 LIGHTS? I SELL THEM! Genuine OEM, not reproductions Click HERE for info |
Just yesterday I found this new support system for sale by Mark Johnson at IPSCO in
Elizabeth, CO. He is the machinist that does a lot of the billet parts for Quella and other vendors. He fabbed the replacement gas tank caps for some us last year. Complete kit price is $165, kit without shocks is $100. This is a bolt, no welding or fabrication, with top and bottom backing plates. Website for contact info, at www.ipsco.org Click the Pantea picture, scroll to the last two items on the parts listing page. Larry ![]() |

Damn that sucks! I don't know if I would like the kick stand deal. I recall those hoods are pretty heavy, and on top of that, imagine it falling for whatever reason. I think some type of electonic set up would be real trick if it could be done safely. Just curious what struts did you have on there, maybe too much pressure?

I spoke with Mark about this today. There is a backing plate. It is sized and designed to slide up into that channel, taped to a stiff wire or rod. Go look at your deck lid, as I just did. This area does have an accessible channel. With fours holes drilled (Mark supplies the drill stop to prevent drilling too far) according to the supplied template, the backing plate is positioned to match those holes. Not showing in the photos is the fact that the backing plate, in addition to the three threaded bosses for attachment, has a fourth threaded hole. This allows the use of a small screw to be used just to hold the backing plate in place once your wire placement gets it where it belongs. This screw is then covered by the shock pivot plate. He said several owners with Delta wings have already used this setup, and it does just fine. He said it is not really pushing the deck UP so much as it is pushing it OUT and away from the hinges. Says there is a good dampening effect on raising and closing. He has them in stock and ready for shipping. He is also working on a rear billet upright, to incorporate a newer style 'cartridge' bearing system. Larry |

It is small, all the way forward, towards the hinges. My car is 2511 and it is there. Larry |
