Well I went to take the P car out the garage and to work this morning and decided it's time to get a car cover as the short lay up after Monterey weekend had accumulated quite a layer of dust.

In just looking briefly on the interent it seems there's quite the choice out there in price, styles and quality. So my question is; what are those that have covers experience and/or recommendations for a cover that will have mainly indoor duty, but that I can take and use occasionally outdoors for a weekend event etc.?

Thanks
Julian

I'm sure someone could sell you a super-duper expensive car cover, especially if you say "Pantera" or "Italian Sports Car," but it's not necessary.

2001 Honda S2000 cover fits a Pantera

Pep Boys "C" car cover for Pintos is a good fit on a Pantera - approx. $20

Fiero covers from Kragens are known to fit Panteras well ('87 Fiero is one inch wider, one inch higher, and one inch longer than
the L model Pantera)

The Fiero covers are readily available and can be had as inexpensively (or expensive) as you want.

Here are a few more ideas...
Pantera East has a cover of Evolution III material

"Superweave" from California Car Covers is waterproof, breathable, light, and highly regarded by a fellow Pantera owner. However, it's a two person job to put it on if there is the slightest wind.

Just as an FYI, a friend of mine who is in the auto detailing and paint business actually talked me OUT of buying a car cover. Why? The elastic bands and to a certain extent the fabric itself produce fine scratches in the paint during the application and removal of the cover itself.

Your opinions may vary.
Julian,

I dont think you need a car cover. Buy a California duster instead. If you do decide to buy a cover, you still need to remove the dust before you cover it. As Parapantera says, they will scratch, but It's not the cover that scratches (unless it's a cheap one) but the dust that you rub across the surface of the paint when fitting the cover.

A friend of mine who has Packards and is quite frugal just uses large, thin sheets of plastic (about 1 mil thick) to cover his cars inside the garage. The plastic is waterproof and dustproof. When he wants to uncover one car he just slides the plastic onto another car, upside down, so the dusty sides are together. When a piece of plastic gets too dirty he throws it away and gets out a new one. His cars are always dustless when he uncovers them.
