I have seen pics of dashboards with what appears to be a metal strip used as a hold down for the lifting vinyl condition. Does anyone have any knowledge and a source for that?

I had not noticed the attachment screws in the pics I viewed. Looks simple enough to fab and install just need to find suitable material.

My favorite go-to place for materials like this is McMaster Carr. They don't have the half round shape in that size (about 1/4"), but they do have full round shapes in plastic rods that could be the solution. You can sort by size and color. I think ABS or Delrin would work OK.

I think that is a great idea but the silver screws (rivets?) do give a rather "home made" look to it. They would probably disappear with some black-head screws.
If I had the dash out, I'd get some small aluminum bar, round it as desired, gently form it to the curve (easily done by hand), have some 1/8" dia. studs welded on the back, paint it satin black, drill holes and mount to the dash with the nuts hidden on the back side of the dash. It would really look like a factory solution then. Of course, with the dash in-place, the screws are the way to go.

those were made of metal and installed by dealers because of the material lifting. there were 2 of them. a long one that fit on top of dash and a very short one that screwed on vertically by package tray. Yes BLACK screws were used.mike mayberry
A screw called a Trim Head is made for fastening wood trim when metal stud framing is used ... the head is very small and uses a square head driver ... this screw might look a little more discreet.

They are only used on the dual pod, not the single pod dash.
They are hollow metal trim strips, extrusions, I believe aluminum, painted flat black and contain floating studs. They get attached from the backside, underneath the dash.
They are refered to as a "blind" installation since there are no exposed fasteners.
They are made to length for this application as the ends are finished, not cut.
I just looked and Wilkinson does not show them in the dash board parts illustrations. He would be the most likely source of replacement parts though since he has had alot of these parts reproduced through Santiago Detomaso and has imported them exclusively. Most of the other vendors get their parts from him now. You should call him about them.
I am told by those that know him tha tDetomaso is notoriously difficult to deal with and subject to all types of "conniptions" that even Steve Wilkinson can't put up with?
I've never seen anything like them other than on the Pantera. For sure they are simple industrial trim items in Europe for 1970.

These are what I have on my 72 pre-L, with no visible fasteners/screws.
