A friends 74 has had someone but the incorrect size blades into the stock arms and they are two long and of course hit each other on each pass. The original blades I believe should be 15" and was curious if the actual rubber blade insert could be inserted into the the original blade assy? When they were available from the manufacture could just the rubber insert be replaced or did the complete blade assy. need be replaced?

Refills are still available, unfortunately the jobbers don't have them on display. Your chalenge, should you accept, is to identify which of the 3 design fits your current arms.

There were at least two different wiper arms used, too. Our '72 L came equipped with the early stainless-wire arms directly off a '70s Jaguar. These have less spring pressure and float off the glass at lower speeds than solid arms. I finally changed them for flat-black solid arms due to late-afternoon glare off the stainless, and my reluctance at having to powder-coat the stainless every few years. Both arms used 16" blades which do not hit anything when properly adjusted.

I just looked at my wiper arms and they are labeled Arman & C. I guess that's the manufacturer. They are flat black.

Anyway..... I replaced the 15in blades with standard refills I got from Walmart. They sell the same type at Kmart, Target, or your common auto parts stores like Kragans. I believe all the refills are black but I could be wrong.

You only LIV1S - Enjoy

Ditto, but a well-worn stainless.
