I believe my oil sending unit is starting to leak and curious if this is common or maybe I've misdiagnosed it. I removed the Teflon tape and went with the Rector seal 5 thinking that maybe it was leaking around the threads. Oil is still gathering in the valley as you can see in the pics. I used my scope/camera to look under the intake and it doesn't appear to be leaking from the intake. I don't see the oil dripping when idling. I can clean the oil up and go for a 15- minute drive come back...Read More...

Jon Haas (Pantera Electronics)

74gts
I am not one to usually leave reviews, but the Pantera community continues to amaze me both with the quality/help from owners, and the vendors. My 74’ GTS that my father bought new as a Ford engineer with A plan discount in the Lincoln Mercury dealer had always fought a bit of an overheating problem. I remember being in the Woodward dream cruise as a little kid in Detroit and my father being very anxious as it was a very slow go. Around two years ago, my father passed the car over to me, and...Read More...

backup light switch

tomkuester
In the process of installing an LCD mirror and backup camera I've managed to lose two of the tiny nuts that hold the reverse light wires in place. Can any of you tell me their size or a source. FYI, if you plan on buying an electronic rear view mirror system, buy one that comes with useful instructions. I bought a system from Master Tailgaters and it has virtually no useful instructions, and what is included was obviously written by a Chinese. It looks like its plug and play, but it's not.Read More...

The resurrection of #4899 - a Group 4 inspired journey..

When midlife crisis hits and the only cure seems to be an Italian mid engine car - then the Pantera is the perfect drug! Having built a 68 Mustang previously the thing I know was that I wanted a car that could handle, not only red light races but corners as well! And since I really love those massive wheel arches on the Group 4 cars my mind got set on building a full out race car. Or, well, maybe. Wouldn’t it be nice if I was able to drive it on public roads? Or even Historic Racing? Or why...Read More...

“ some say, I know two facts about DeTomaso Pantera Powersteering - and both are wrong” (I’m sure a few of you know where this came from… Lol) i’m using my C7 Corvette (which will be substituted by the Pantera) as a daily driver, getting groceries running errands, bringing children to school and picking them up! Now, for all of you who do the same “job” you know how packed the parking lot at the grocery store can be or all the perfect driving parents (soccer moms ) at the school just try to...Read More...

I decided on upgrading my brakes to the from SACC offered Wilwood conversion 6 piston with separate parking brake caliper. My main reason was that i can keep the original rims on the car…. I like the look of the 70’s balloony’s… and with the calipers in black it will not be very noticeably!Read More...

Wilwood MC Question

jwelch68
Good evening, I just finished the Wilwood SACC brake upgrade as well as added the Wilwood MC and proportioning valve. Just curious if anyone has installed the Wilwood MC and if they used the .250" nylon spacers in kit? I talked to Scott at SACC and he said no one has mentioned any issues. I'm not having an issue but there are only 1-2 threads engaged when using the spacers. Wilwood says to use the spacers, but this isn't a Pantera only MC so looking for advice. My thought is that the spacer...Read More...

Horn

Fuzz
Has anyone changed the location of the horn button from the turn signal stalk to somewhere else? Looking for ideas on a location that is easy to install and use when needed while looking good and not kit-car-ish. I have a quick disconnect Momo steering wheel without an option for a horn, otherwise that would have been ideal. Any good ideas or successful relocation of the horn button out there?Read More...

Headliner Reinstall Tip

jwelch68
I'm guessing others may have tried this before but thought I would share just in case. I used 6 harbor freight magnets to hold the headliner in place so that I could get in the correct position before spraying the glue on. I think 8 magnets would have been better. Once I had the liner where I wanted it, I moved all 6 magnets to 1 side of liner and sprayed the glue on half of the liner and used a painter roller and my hand to smooth it out. I then moved the magnets to the other side and...Read More...

Clutch Pedal Acting Up

jwelch68
Good Morning, I was driving up hill to park in the garage this weekend and my clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there for about 2 seconds, luckily, I was in neutral at the time. Since then, the pedal has been sticking at about 1 inch below the fully disengaged level. Once you press the clutch the sticking stops and there are no issues going into gear. I don't hear noises with the throw out bearing and no leaks. I've got about 600 miles since rebuilding the car, including new McLoud...Read More...

I was always amazed about the gas filler located in the “early” Pantera! as I was looking for a solution I do like! I came across a “Cobra” stile filler that wouldn’t look huge for the sail panel it will be mounted on / in! There are many different ways the factory fuel filler location (which wasn’t even used) looks : some have a egg shape, some have a round indentation/patched up hole with spot welds… I my case it’s a 1.5” hole that has a patch on the inside and 3 spot welds on the outside.Read More...
