I have a Pantera project that I received in February this year. It is a 1972 Pre L that is setup as a GTS and it came with a TWM 8 stack EFI that is driven by a Haltech ECU from the 1990's. The car also came with nitrous and you can see the hard lines for it above. I will be sidelining the nitrous and also want to replace the Haltech ECU with Holley Terminator X. The Holley ECU needs a MAP sensor and from what I can tell the Haltech did not use one. If this is correct then I need to create a...Read More...

The restoration of #4164

#4164
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Stephan and living in Yardley, PA. Being the proud owner of a 1972 Pantera, #4164 which I acquired in December 2023. The car was accidentally found on craigslist while looking for something completely different. Located in upstate NY, the previous owner disassembled the car and was planning on fully restoring it before he became very ill and had to abandon the project. Being an aviation engineer he was meticulous in planning out the project and...Read More...
Thought I would post this to save someone the headache of the rabbit hole I just went down. I've been having clutch engagement issues after about 1000 miles on a new Mcleod clutch and TB. After going thru all the adjustments several times, I decide to change the M/C even though it was new from Wilkinson. I knew the hard-line fittings would need to change to make this M/C work. However, the plunger rod threads are different than the Wilkinson version, so I had to rethread the fork fitting on...Read More...

351C Distributor (aftermarket) - Short shaft - Gear attached to oil pump drive?

I just removed my distributor to provide more visibility for an intake manifold swap. I expected a typical dist with a longer shaft and a drive gear attached. This aftermarket electronic dist (no brand names anywhere) had a short stub shaft, with a female slot that engages the drive gear with a male end, that remains in the block. I have seen this setup on older Mopars (drive gear is mounted to the oil pump driveshaft) but not on a Ford Cleveland? Everything works fine. Is this aftermarket...Read More...

Michelin 17" tires

I was looking at tire options again and see that Michelin has yet again made some changes. I run lemans 4 (Group 4 inspired) style wheels. I am wondering if anyone has tried the Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires? I see they offer 315/35/17 and 225/45/17 and 235/45/17 (not sure if those would work under our fenders). They are considerably cheaper and easier to find than Michelin ps2 and the 335/35 rears.Read More...

Concorso 2024

lf-tp2511
All, The new owners, whoever they may be, of Concorso have finally got a website up and running. Currently registration for your car is $160, but you better hurry because on May 1, that is just eight days, it goes up $35 to become a $195 admission ticket. Based on past years’ declining attendance and attractions, the question now is whether it is worth attending to see what they come up with this year?? Pantera Recall circa 1971

George P
Did you know there was a recall of the Panteras exported to North America circa late 1971? Ford tested the Pantera AFTER it had begun importing them, delivering them to dealerships, and putting them up for sale. They found one glaring problem, the HVAC system barely blew any air. They also found several areas where they believed improvements should be made. They implemented revisions to the Pantera in the assembly process back in Italy. The revisions consisted of wrapping the fuel tanks in...Read More...

Replacing Rear Main Seal

Can I replace the rear main seal with the 351 C engine in the car? Is there a post that describes this procedure? I performed this task 49 years ago on my 1964 Corvette but I was significantly younger. If this is possible, what seal kit should I purchase? It seems like an opportune time to replace my 52 year old oil pump. What pump should I purchase? Thanks for your help. BruceRead More...

Can anyone tell me what the correct model water temp sending unit is? I'm finding two Standard Motor senders TS-58 and TS-24 which have different resistance values. I'm doing the 'shakedown' on my Pantera after over 10 years of working on it and yesterday put 100 miles on it. The temp gauge would rise above the 190 degree mark and then when the fans kick on the needle would go down. Everything seemed to be working as it should. Then during the last leg of my test on an open stretch the gauge...Read More...

The projects going on at this point is the cooling system (thread: Cooling system - blow to suck) and this thread about the heater core…(will see about the A/C) because I know there are several things, little bits and pieces I do not anticipate at this point, but I’m sure I will need, I decided to moved the car on Friday with a flatbed truck to PIM! Alternatively I would be driving there each time getting parts or ordering them which would add a lot of time ! So, Monday I be going to work at...Read More...
