It might be an aftermarket condenser which wouldn't fit inside the trunk tub (although it appears to be stock). My '71 has a seperate "enclosure" which attaches to the main tub. Maybe this has been removed for more room? Or....maybe the owner thought there wasn't enough air flow and the AC wasn't working correctly?
Seems like Pantera owners are a pretty close bunch - any other history on this car that anyone knows of?
