Reply to "Aluminum Water Pump Issue"

Mine was overheating after I installed the pump. Then we had the thread about it and I modified the pump with a bypass hole and it works fine now.

The question with the Edelbrock pump is does the Pantera actually need more flow through the system.

Sometimes more flow hurts. The fluid needs more time in the radiator to cool down.

As Bosswrench says above, with the bypass blocked, I was getting less cooling. He says 20%.

The Pantera radiator is fine for a stock engine but if you put horsepower into it, the engine will make more heat and then the radiator is not sufficient.

I say use a pump with the factory style bypass hole in the pump.
