copper water tubes

I have a friend with a pantera that has copper water pipes instead of stainless steel. Also they are slightly larger in diameter than the stock ones. His car has a modified engine after market radiator(not lay down) and two hi output pusher fans. He says his car has never gone above 180 on a hot day in traffic. In fact he says he has trouble getting it to 180. He says the larger copper pipes made the difference. Sounds like a good idea to me.
