Door handle

My driver door handle will open the car but I cannot lock the door with a key. This has happened in the last month or so. Haven't tried anything yet.

Im also including an outside picture. It was built in 10/72. Does it look like they used a push button door for a regular door handle? What's the fill spot around the handle?
