Door ID Plate

Sorry if this topic is in the wrong area. George, feel free to move it where it may belong.

A previous owner after a repaint buffed the ID plate inside the driver's door. The embossed serial number was not damaged, but the printed info is pretty much gone. I see that most of the venders sell replacement ID plates. However when I inquire as to if they can emboss the vin # , they say no and can not tell me who can. Any suggestions?
