I have owned 3 Porsches and would be thrilled to own a 996 Turbo.

However, I would be more thrilled to own a Pantera.

...you reach a point where a nice 996 Turbo in the same price range is just too attractive to pass up, especially since they are filled with nice safety features, such as numerous airbags and very robust A/C systems.

If anybody knows of a nice car, in my price range, please let me know.

I really do enjoy 911s. Have had a couple 930s, 993tt, and most recently a 996tt I had for two years. Great cars - very predictable, safe, fast as the blazes, modern and all that.

I sold it, no regrets. Still have the Pantera, no regrets.

It's a passion vs. practicality thing. The Porsche makes more "sense" if that's what you want; the Pantera appeals to my soul.

If you want a Pantera you can drive and use as readily as a Porsche, indeed then, I'd stretch the price range for a fully sorted car from a knowledgable owner who has done the smart things. This board is the place to be to figure out what YOU feel fits "smart" or not.

Feel free to PM for specific differences in the cars, or we can discuss here.
