You are correct, and remember that all the "push button" systems came from Maserati suppliers, and so the wiring would be completely different than the switch based Longchamps. I can recall shells being shipped to the other side of Modena, when things were quiet on the Quattroporte assembly lines. So they would have different colors too. Also, many people brought their cars back to have them modified in the factory, so wiring would have been what ever was on the table. Don't even get me started on the Amerasport conversions. Seatbelt lights and Air pumps.
Hand made cars are just that, hand made.
