If your '72 car has the factory '73-up bump-steer shims, Bill Stroppe's neat rack brace will not fit thru the stock holes unless some mods are done. The bump-steer shims fit behind and space the rack fwd/down by about 5/16" so stock length rack-mount bolts won't be safe to use either.
Most simply drill two more holes in the right subframe and use longer bolts to mount the rack, but cutting 5/16" off the shoulders of the rack's top mount allows the brace to fit thru the stock holes using stock bolts. This is a 5-minute milling machine job.
