All Panteras, push buttons included, used only those two styles of tail lights. I’ve never read anything on the reason for the introduction of the second design during later production.
small volume coach builders very often source some of the components for their new models from previous vehicles.
The Ford style tail lights, remember these were originally from an Alfa Romeo, were used on the Maserati bora and the Maserati Kamsin and the short-lived Bricklin.
The windshield wiper assembly used on our cars was originally installed on jaguars, and our steering column was sourced from the early Ford capri.
And of course our Girling brakes are certainly not sourced from Italy😁😁
