it could be the "big black cable" (in the picture above) going to the Stator, well if it is not connected to Bat plus then you Bat will never been charged..

Well what most people do is they have a SHORT CUT Thick wire from Stator to the Starter solenoid (LEFT SIDE in the picture) directly. Assuming there is NO AM meter..that makes you black cable obsolete.
