If by "direct connection" you mean unfused from the battery, then yes, it is a direct connection.

There are no fuses (except the wire itself

) for the wires to and from the ignition switch. The wire to the ignition coil and the wire to the starter relay's coil terminal do not have fuses. The rest of the wires leaving the ignition switch are unfused between the ignition switch and the fuse panel.
