There are several blue wires going to the rear. The one that you may be looking at is a dark blue/black. This wire goes from the voltage regulator "I" terminal to the charge indicator light in the speedo.

Other blue wires going to the back (through the rocker panel) are:

Lt blue/black: tach signal wire
Lt blue: right turn signal
Lt blue/ black: left turn signal
Lt blue/ black: A/C condenser fan (and compressor, '71 only)
