Reply to "Rear window louvers"

Ron's photos show the type of louvers I have on my car. They are not the Mindtrain louvers.

The Mindtrain louvers don't have the exposed mounting rails and fasteners above the rim of the hood. I've never seen a set of Mindtrains in person, and don't know for sure how they mount, but the mounts are invisible in photos and they look much more like a high end product. I would expect the Mindtrain louvers to sell for two or three times the price of the louvers shown.

I mounted mine with some flat top sleeve nuts I got at Home Depot. They are used in those self assembled furniture kits you buy. They have them in their odd hardware drawers.

My louvers rattled. The rattle came from where each louver passes through the center brace. I took them back off and put a small bead of clear latex caulk on each side of the brace where the louver passes through on the underside where it would not show. No more rattles! Silicone might be more durable, but it is a bear to clean up if you ever re-paint the louver.

I thought I would regret not waiting for a set of Mindtrain louvers, but the truth is, I really don't mind the look of these at all now.

I always loved the look of the louvers on the Lamborgini Mura and the Boss 302.

There is NO loss of rear view whatsoever. So don't let that concern you.

All and all I'm happy with mine.

Mooso
