Replacing Deck Lid Struts

Just got in some struts from Pantera Parts Connection, to give them a try and see how strong they are and how they perform over time. Tried using my GoPro to record some of the process in the video below, as well as a few photos too. I am no mechanical genius, basically just learn as I go, trial & error. But in my opinion doing the job on your own can be a challenge and could cause damage due to the weight of the deck lid if you don't watch out. When I had my orange stock L years ago, I almost broke off the bottom bracket due to the weight and pressure of the hood when I tried to take out the strut, and the bolt partially out twisted the bottom bracket due to the weight (even though I thought I had removed the pressure in supporting the hood). In that instance I even had a strut lock on the other strut, but still the hood dropped some due to hood weight & twist. Anyway, learned to do it better here as shown. Others may have better techniques; but changing these things so often due to them not lasting over time at least I devised a method that works for me. I usually like to change one strut at a time, but due to struts being in various lengths, that isn't always possible and need to use my stick/broom handle and bungee technique to hold the hood up when both struts are out.

Due to some struts seeming to be too strong and others not lasting over a year or so, this time I am putting in Pantera Parts Connection struts, so we will see how they hold up over time. In putting them on, I found the pressure seems just right, a tad stiffer than the Mighty Lift D95004 which lasted for about a year.
