I think that point is more valid when an ABC-car has an ABC-engine, home produced. Here we're talking a hybrid from birth, and this is not in my mind a Ford product like e.g the GT40, it's a DeTomaso product. I guess having read about him, he was just looking around for the cheapest decent power? Could just as easily have been a SBC or a Mopar engine?

That said, I don't think you will increase the car's value by shifting engine brand, some will not like it, so you should only do it if you yourself want to try it. I have 600HP the hard way, engine needs looking after quite a bit (which I enjoy), but no doubt a 600HP LS3, when installed and dialled in is a much more stable rocket.
