We used a press like Larry shows. I like those press plates, BTW.

It doesn't take too much pressure to compress the spring enough to get the keepers out, but be sure your press has enough room to retreat and let the spring expand to it's free length, or else you'll have to reset the keepers and try again. Some things get learned the hard way.

Best to stand to the side while working after the keepers have been removed.
