If you have pads with no bumps, You can also just tack a quick blob of weld to the back of the pad. If you like, make a sharp edge with a grinder.

Put it high or low on the pad, not in the center.

The pin/protrusion is only to keep the piston from rotating. It' s not rocket science, and might save you a couple weeks, and shipping costs.
