Hey guys, just bought my '71 p-car. I don't have it yet, it is still with the previous owner. I should have it in a couple of weeks. Anyway, I really need to know how to find out what that width of the stock campy wheels are on the car. The current owner has no idea, and neither of us know how to find out. Is there some info. on the wheel itself as to the width?

Thanks!

The reason I am asking is because I found someone who can get me a pair of BFG Radial T/A's for the rear... He can get either 275/50/15's or 295/50/15's. I wasn't sure which size to get because I didn't know the width of the wheels. I guess I will go with the 275. That should work fine on an 8" rim, right?

thanks.

I remember for the first two years after I got my car I would occasionaly go out to the garage and stare at it in desibelief. I owned that?? Man everyday was exciting. I had no trouble getting out of bed in the mornings. Days at work became painfull to endure though. I suffered anxiety seperation from my car. Eeker
But then again, I am a kind of strange guy, eight years later and I am still obsessed by it. Smiler
I bet both of you have calenders with the days being marked off. I bought mine sight unseen and waited 12 days for it to cross country.I had the tracking no. and mapped it daily. My friends thought I was crazy for not buying a new Dodge Magnum with a hemi for the same money. But we all know new cars go down in value and Panteras are just plain out BAD! When you get you car you can esily measure the rims.
congrats in advance on the cat.
i have the 10 inch campys on mine. the rears are deeper than the fronts. i threw a set of 295 bf goody radial TAs on mine. they're not rated for anything over 105 mph but they only cost me $120 a piece. i never really took the car much past 130 mph anyway. the car is a 74.
with the cheaper tires burnouts become more affordable.
drive safely.

Congrats. Don't forget to join POCA. There's a lot of knowledge out there waiting to be called on. Also, the Realbig.com/DeTomaso email list is very helpful.

BTW, I've been an owner since I bought my first one new in the mid 70s and I still go out in the garage to get that "feeling."

Thanks Jeff. I am very excited and feel extremely privileged to be part of such an amazing group of car owners. I will absolutely join POCA.

I heard from the transportation company possibly the end of this week they will pickup my car Big Grin

Thanks buddy!
The gentelmen who I bought the car from just emailed me with the current size tires on the car.... 225/50/15's front and 285/40/15's rear. I have a few pics he sent me and the rears fit great. They do not bulge out at all. In fact, they look like they fit perfectly. Does that mean they are the 10" campys? I cannot imagine these tires fitting perfectly on an 8" rim?
