I recently purchased an original factory document that lists all Panteras produced in September 1972. This includes vin #s 3562-4275 and shows 305 cars built that month. I posted a copy of the document below for any owners who are looking to create a keepsake file for their cars. I'm not quite sure what the red underlined S delineates after some of the vin #s, but perhaps owners of those vins may know what makes their cars unique. I would guess the S indicates European production cars. Enjoy.

I think it says....

SUBJECT: Pantera USA / 2 and Special shipped from Gruglaisco to Modena from the 1st week to 30/ 9/ 72.- * (Isn't the translation of this Italian date format 30 Sept. 1972?)

How to drop (??) and inventories already in his hands (I ?) transmit the detail of the cars in the subject.-

It seems like a list of cars shipped and the inventory already in Modena - my translation engine is a little spotty!

Rocky

P.S. What's in Gruglaisco? It's pretty far away from Modena.

Grugliasco is an industrial district on the western side of Turin, location of the Vignale coachworks.

That's a list of basically the last batch of pre-L Panteras. 4269 was the first L model. The coaches of the Panteras listed were manufactured in Turin between May (THPNMC) and July (THPNMD) of 1972. Final assembly in Modena normally took place about a month later. Yet in this situation they are still being discussed in a document dated October 9, 1972.

4275, the last Pantera on the list, was a one-off car built for Hank Carlini. Its the one with the multiple small vents on the front hood, two tone leather interior, "F-O-R-D" lettering on the rear deck lid, etc.

Hey Jim

There's a stamp at the bottom of the second page.

I believe it reads:

De Tomaso Modena S.p.A.
Provvisario: Via J. Peri, 68
Delinitivo: Via Emilia Ovest, 1250
41100 Modena, Italia

Can you verify if I'm correct, the third line is especially difficult to read? Thanks

Its interesting to see those two addresses on the same stamp, its also interesting to see the business name "De Tomaso Modena" in use in October 1972.

Can anyone explain the meaning of "provvisario" and "delinitivo"?

Thanks again!

-G
The stamp says
DETOMASO MODENA S.p.A
Provvisorio : Via J. Peri, 68
Definitivo : Via Exxxxxxx, 1250
41100 MODENA (Italia)

Row 3 is also illegible on the original document, but I would guess that George is correct based upon the known address for the factory.

Provvisorio can be translated as provisional and Difinitivo can be translated as final.

Over line 3 is Distinti Saluti which translates as distinct greetings and includes a signature or initials.

Interestingly, the seller also has an original GP4 homogenization document. I think I have seen a similar document online somewhere, but if anyone is interested in acquiring this document, I can forward your offer and arrange for the sale. PM me if interested.

Anyone have any theories about the S and red slashes after some vins?
That's some really interesting documents. I suspect the "S" cars euro GTS models. Several of them are found under euro GTS in Chuck's ProvaMo registry.

A lot of similar documents seem to be for sale from different sources now. They surely must have been removed from the leftovers in the old factory in Modena

I wonder if there are any legal rights to these?? Can they be published without permission from Detomaso?
Jimlah,

Great find! My car is listed. Would you mind scanning the original document to a color PDF and posting/sending a copy. I'd love to print it out and add it to a binder of documentation I have for my car.

Almost any copy shop (FedEx/Kinkos) can do this, and most high-end office copiers have "email" capability and can scan the document into a PDF to email to yourself.

Thanks!
Garth

I believe that I saw this car in person at an Italian Car Day event at Angellina's Restaurant on Staten Island in October? In addition to what George mentions, it had a Euro single pod dash (not the US plastic single pod), a GTS steering wheel and different seats. The interior was two toned. It had (if I remember correctly) 7" front and 8" rear Campi wheels. It was (still is I think) for sale for $85,000 (in Hemings).

It was in solid shape but the paint needed "refreshing". Couldn't tell if it was painted in acrylic lacquer or something else? It sure did have the unique hood vents and FORD across the rear of the decklid. I think it had an Edelbrock intake on it with a Holley? Couldn't see which one for sure. Looked like a 3310.
The list reads; Shipped from Grugliasco to Modena from September 1st to September 30, 1972
