I have asked before about my air cleaner, and where the pipes are supposed to go to and from.

I now have my Newly black cracked air filter back along with its not too cleverly chromed lid!

Has anyone got a picture of the routing for the original piping please, I do have the original charcoal canister fitted too.

Note, the mesh grille that covers the engine was fitted with self tapping screws, these weren't too good so I fitted some "Rivnuts" and used 4mm bolts to secure it, its a better job .

Peter, first of all your air cleaner is orientated wrong. That one is designed so that the snorkel air intake be pointed to the passenger side front of the car, so rotate it 180 degrees. The hole I circled in yellow, should have a hose and fitting that snaps on to it. The other end has a fitting that plugs into the oil fill cap, so you need a different one.

The hole I circled blue should have a plastic twistlock fitting that the hose from your charcoal canister plugs into.

There's more if you want all the vacuum lines hooked up, let me know.

RRS1 I didn't know that I thought it would foul the oil dipstick.
Thats really good info, I didn't know what these 2 holes were meant to feed.

As you said The yellow one goes into the oil cap on the rocker box cover, I can get that machined to take a hose, do you know what is actually missing from the orange plastic male end, or does the hose just go onto the orange end of the tube.
If anyone has the fitting that the blue circle denotes I would be most grateful.

smashing information thank you very much.
PetePS if there is more I would like to know.

the pipe from the end of the snorkel goes to a valve under the air filter, but the valve has 2 tubes and there is only one hose??

I must be missing something.

Hi Peter,
As RRS1 pointed out the snorkel on later cars points to the passenger seat, and it looks like your air cleaner is of this type. Here is an illustration that may help on the connections. Looks like you are missing part 9D692 to the carbon canister and part 383259-S to connect the oil filler cap. Not sure where you can get them but I'm sure they are off the shelf ford parts, so one of the mustang/Ford heritage parts carriers might have them.
