After dreaming of having one of these cars most of my life, I finally had the approval from the wife, money ready to spend and found a this car for sale locally. I went to see it last night and left a little dissapointed because it didn't have enough headroom/legroom for me even with the sunroof.
With the little experience I have looking at panteras in mind, here's what I found. Fender flares & wing are fiberglass with a minor scratch or two. There is a golfball size dent in the rear quarter panel. Some rust under passenger side door. The car seemed to start ok and ran strong/LOUD. Tach & emergency brake didn't work. Shifting was a bit stiff (normal?). Braking was weak. No air conditioning. Interior was ok with the exception of a tv monitor and accessories screwed into the dash. One of these asseccories was in the way when trying to work the clutch. Overall I don't think this car is too bad. It does need some work though.

Considering the asking price you should expect a car that needs close to nothing but only minor stuff to correct! In other words...no dents, no scratches, only surface or very minor rust, no tv, absolutely nothing screwed to the dash, a working tach and a working emergency brake. These items would have to be corrected.

As for your other items..the headroom can always be increased by dropping the floor panels or removing the seat tracks...see here for more info http://64.70.166.243/ubb/Forum10/HTML/001456.html ; the fiberglass flares are stock on factory GT-5's and actually look smoother than many of the steel conversions I've seen; stiff and deliberate shifting is normal with these 30+ year old ZF's.

IMHO, the car doesn't sound like a $35K car, but you're off to a great start identifying the negatives and the accompanying $8K worth of work you'll need to eventually accomplish on this car! Remember, there's probably more you didn't catch too :-)

Good Luck!
This car did not have current license plate or insurance so I was only able to drive it for a couple of miles. That wasn't enough time for it to warm up.
Some additional things I found out about this car during my inspection indicate that this would be a "project car" (at least for me) and the price doesn't reflect this.
I was told that this car was restored/converted in 1991 and has pretty much sat since 1997 ( it appears this car is listed again elsewhere on this site).
