Are they titled as Ford de Tomaso Panteras? Or is there no mention of Ford? Also , Do they have US DOT stickers readily visable? I am seriously cosidering buying an early 70s car and wish to find out if I cannot import one from the US into Canada without too much hassle. Also , will I be able to get a decent car for $20K to $25K?

Panteras were registered variously. Mine is as a "1972 DeTomaso Pantera" with no mention of Ford, but I saw one that was registered as a '72 Lincoln (they were sold by Lincoln-Mercury div of Ford) I told that guy 'good luck trying to ever collect on his insurance'!)
Dunno the current Canadian laws; they used to be really stickey on private importations. $25K in the U.S. should buy you a nice 'driver' with updates and maybe needing a paint touch-up, tires or minor mechanical.

It is very difficult to obtain a good car in the price range you suggest in US dollars. Cars that sell under $25,000.00 typically require paint and body work, are missing parts, have power train and ZF issues or worse. Even moderate quality coachwork and repainting can run $10,000 or more. If originality is important to you, please make the extra stretch and spend what you can afford.
Interestingly, a car from Canada is here in California that is of very high quality. It has the same owner for over 20 years and has been treated to a restoration. You can see the car by visiting this link: http://www.pim.net/ber71.html
Good luck in your search and let us know here at the bulletin board what you end up purchasing. We welcome you to this great hobby!
DAve!
Steve my Pantera is titled as a Ford Model Pantera due to CT - USA motor vehicle could not find DeTomaso as a manufacture. I had to supply the original Pantera service manual to show it came from Ford in Dearborn Mich in order to convince the unknowing.
Good Luck on your quest
