The DOHC 4.6 is shorter so the firewall hump over the console can be eliminated, and when suitably modified, it puts out reasonable horsepower. Once running, the computer-controlled engine also gives better gas mileage. On the downside, it is difficult to hook up the electronics, its heavy for its size and quite bulky. In late model Panteras, it requires cutting & welding on the inner rear fender wells. It also probably won't pass smog tests due to not running the same catalytic converters as in a Mustang, and the lack of low-speed torque from the smaller engine is bothersome. At least one guy has installed thr 5.4 DOHC variant which should have better torque but is even bulkier. Personally, I'm satisfied with the classic and brutal 351C
