PI is interested in knowing what prices cars are selling for. If you have knowledge in this area and are not guessing or using the SWAG method, please participate and reply to this posting. Since not all Panteras are equal, PI would like to know what values should be assigned to the following types of cars at the current market rates and prices:

1) Project car. Observable rust. May not be running. May not be complete.
2) Project car that needs restoration but is drivable and has little to no rust and is complete.
3) Driver car. Little or no rust. Fair to good appearance and is complete. No upgrades.
4) Driver plus 1. Same as above but has cooling upgrades and other updates to make the car current.
5) Driver plus 2. All of the above but has strong paint and body. Perhaps a well taken care of original car or a car that was restored in the past.
6) Semi-Concours. All of the above but excellent paint and body. Very strong in all areas but not a trailer queen.
7) Trailer Queen/Concours. Can be dead nuts stock or modified but done to a show-winning level. Bare metal paint and high quality in every way. Big brakes, motor upgrades, ZF rebuilds, big cooling and all the goodies.

If you own, have owned, shopped or researched one or all of these categories, please set forth your findings. Specific examples would be appreciated. Hearsay is discouraged or unfounded speculation. This information can be helpful to buyers/sellers who are looking for what the norms are. Thanks for your participation. PI Directors

Dave,

6018 was purchased in May 2004, for $40K.

60,000 miles, straight stock body, no sign of ever having been in an accident, no rust. The interior is original & in great shape except for wear on the drivers carpeting and sagging headliner. Repainted original color, but not restored. Its got Wilwood brakes, Konis, 17" Etoile wheels, adjustable suspension, Momo steering wheel. Modern high capacity alternator, modern mini hi torque starter. What would you call it, a survivor-mod? It fits your class #4 best.

George
Rating : 3. Purchased #1797 May 2002 for $21k. 53,000 miles. Rust around front valance, other than that, rust free. Original paint, thinned down to the primer in some places due to polishing. Stress cracks around the top rear of the passenger compartment. Door dings. Original interior, worn carpet, small tears in seats. Mostly stock, but rebuilt, engine. Edelbrock carb, Unilite distributor. Mindtrain headers and exhaust. Stock brakes except for SS flex lines. Stock Campi's.

Some prices from Europe.
Some weeks ago, a 1989 GT5-S, stock and in good condition with 30.000 km on the clock, was sold for 57.000,- Euro or 69.000,- USD.
Two years ago, I have sold my 1991 Si, complete stock and in very good condition with 14.000 km on the clock, for 75.000,- Euro or 91.000,- USD.
In the meantime I have got an offer of 145.000,- Euro or 175.000 USD for my 1993 Si Targa, but it is not for sale at the moment.
Dave,

06984 was appraised for insurance 18 months ago for just over 65K.

It is a complete ground up restoration with everything upgraded so far except the brakes which I am shopping around. Since the appraisal I have spent another 10 - 12K on the paint stripes and the trailer, Kirk Evans flat firewall kit, chrome wheels and other goodies.

I have won many shows with my car, with the exception of the big brakes and the trailer queen aspect it is probably a category 7 car. I drive the car to the shows that are within 2-3 hours of my home.

Dear Mr. Whiplash sir, I have become very ashamed of myself. I had posted what I bought my car for almost ten years ago. I know I screwed the guy out of the car back then because he was going through a divorce and desperatley needed to concell assests from his wife. I didn't feel too bad about it untill later I found out he had actually cheated in a card game and won the car in Las Vegas from it's previous owner. But now that I have finaly figured out how much the car is really worth I feel really bad. Could you please find the thread in the cars for sale that I posted several months ago about selling my car?? At the time I posted it I had no idea that my car may actually be worth what i am asking for it and someone may actually want to buy it from me. I would be forced to sell it and I am not really wanting to just right now, but being as I am a man of my word I would sell it, and then I would feel even worse.
Thank you Mr. Whiplash for finding and deleting that offer I made.
Your bud on the board,
Detom

Whiplash,

I purchased #3382 which is a strong #6 car [6 = Semi-Concours. All of the above but excellent paint and body. Very strong in all areas but not a trailer queen] for $47K in May 2005. I thought this was very high at the time but after comparing it to a lot of other cars out there for sale, I believe $47K was a very fair price for what I got, especially since my car came with all of the original parts (engine, seats, 7" 8" and 10" campy's, etc., etc., etc.) all boxed up. I think that I did well...

Dave,

I purchased 5845 in April of 2004 for $31k. The car had 24,000 miles on the odometer and was virtually rust free except for small bubble rust at the front windshield. New Holley Carb, Blue Thunder intake, Hall big bore headers/mufflers, Hall phoenix radiator, new steering rack, new tie rod ends, chrome sway bar, rear window louvers, Boyd Coddington Campy Clones.

Body and paint is in good condition maybe a 4-5. Straight, no accidents.

Runs and drives great!
