Roland,

I was pretty sure you would have.. As I have said before, you have probably forgotten more about DeTomaso´s, than most owners will ever know about them.

The problem is, that it probably is more worth to you as a professional, than to any individual owner. In any case it would be unfair to try to convince you that you should share the list, as one way or another it forms a part of your livelyhood.

Then again, even though I´m sure I will come knocking on Rolands door for DeTomaso specific parts with DeTomaso prices(And will be glad to do so), I´m understandably less than thrilled about the prospect of buying parts from a mass production saloon from a supercar specialist. I don´t think I´m the only one who was at least partly drawn to these cars due to the relative ease, that the major components can be maintaned, in relation to their competition.

When I was researching which car to buy, Iso Lele was one of the options on the list. Lot of the same characteristics as the Longchamp I ended up with due multiple reasons. In any case, the Iso people have the Barry Twitchell´s list and we have lot of published info(a lot of it from Roland), but just not complied in to a single list.

These cars have so little publicity and so little information about them publicly available, that I think that it might even increase their value, if they were more accessible to a beginner. Both with more of them appearing in the press and more technical data availalbe about them in the public domain.

As far as the publicity goes, I am planning to get a permission to publish the articles, that I have collected about the Longchamp in non-profit web site and will help anyone who wishes to do the same to the Deauville.

p.s. The link page would hopefully have both Jaeckel+Partner Gmbh and Pantera International, if it is OK for them.

P.p.s Roland: If you do decide to accept Dutchie´s offer of a bottle of fine whisky, I would most definately add another one into the loot. Big Grin

Jani,

I'll start.

1. Door lock barrels come from the Fia 120 series cars such as 127, 128 etc.

2. ZF steering racks shared with Kyalami.

3. Ignition lock shared with various 70's American Fords/Mercury/Licolns etc.

4. Rear handbrake pads from Rolls Royce (I cannot remember which model).

5. Front brake pads Aston Martin I cannot remember which model).

EBC matched all of my pads up with their 'Green Stuff'.

Phil
Longchamp GTS 3061
Rear lights: Alfa Romeo 2000 (early seventies, shared with many cars from Bricklin to Monteverdi)

Lights, wiper, defrost switches: From Alfa Romeo also. Same period.

Steering column: Lincoln Mark III

Front seats same as various Maserati and Monteverdi models(Doesn´t really help, I know..)

Shifter: Ford Mustang

Brake booster: Ford

Licence plate lights: Alfa Romeo
As I am thinking of next winters to do lists, I´ve started to think that Maserati Quattroporte parts might be the answer to lot of my problems.

For example, QP III spidles worked fine for me during the previous scare. Now I´m thinking of our hard to find group 4 Pantera discs that our Longville´s are supposed to have. When I look at the pictures of the QP III vented front rotors, they look quite like mine. Rear suspension schematic in the QP III parts manual even seems to have DT wheels on it!!!

QP III rotors are available new, as are new pistons for the QP III brake calibers.

Does anyone have experience about a rotor swap?
Headlamps and front blinker lenses Ford Granada (mark 1??) if you're in UK or South Africa, or Ford XC Fairmont GXL in Australia.

Power window motors look to be the same as Pantera, which are French - Citroen ones.

Many engine spares are just XY or XA GT Falcon. These cars had the 4V Cleveland motor. Things like rebuild kits and float for the Motorcraft 4300 carby were straight off the GT. These floats are no longer obtainable in Aus. I got one 2nd hand from the US.

Thermostat took some effort to get - after reading all the posts (from George particularly) about selecting the correct one I tried to get a Stat for a GT Falcon. at both Repco and local Ford dealers they were adamant that there had never been a thermostat with the bypass cut off. And the Ford parts guy had been there since they sold GT Falcons in 1973.

Eventually I found a listing for a Triton TT2023 which is correct (Diagram attached). For the first time in 20 years ownership the car ran cool on a 500km drive. Thanks to the forum for that solution.
Peter

Hey, that´s good news. Mine is broken, and Amazon parts are really easy to get around here.

Do you have a better picture of the "sprinkler"? That looks almost the same as the Mangusta.

I have started a Longchamp parts interchange list to my web page. So far all that is on it is the information taken from this thread. If you have any additional information or feed back please E-mail me using my contact tab on my web page. A link to my web page is at the bottom of this post. I just made this page yesterday so there are a few kinks that I have to sort out.

Thank you, Ron
Hi Ron
First, let me say that your Pantera is one of the most beautiful I've seen, I like the paint the wheels, the white markers etc. Cool

The Longchamp list is great, hopefully just a start. We could add of course that instruments are Pantera etc., but I guess we know that. Is the steering column Lincoln III, I thought that only was Pantera that had Lincoln III steering column.

Thanks for the effort...

Mikael,

Thank you, Ron

I have updated the site with additional (and conflicting) information. Please review and provide feedback.

Thank you, Ron

The Pantera used the same column as the 71-73 German built Mercury Capri's. I have found two references to the Longchamp using the Lincoln column.

Anyone else out there have any information I can add?
Peter,

I do believe that you still have the incorrect thermostat in the car.....

You need to run the Cleveland style, unless you block off the passage underneath the t-stat in the block, to get rid of the need for the odd Cleveland only t-stat!

I would think that with Panteras running around and other odd 302/351 Clevelands in trucks that this should be a no brainer in OZ.....

Steve
Thanks Steve,
there were heaps of Clevelands sold in falcons and fairlanes in the 70's, and I looked at the original 73 (very dog eared) parts book in the local ford dealer - there was no sign of a design that even attempted to close the lower port. The illustrated Triton one has the lower section (labelled 16.8mm) which sits above the seat when the stat is cold. As far as I can see it moves down and closes the port below when the stat is open. A bit like the sketch shown.

Please let me know if this is wrong but this is the first time in 21 years ownership that it hasn't run hot so it made a huge difference.

Peter,

Well, I used to have a Cleveland T-stat lying around somewhere that I was going to compare my 4.6 version to!!! I'll find it next week sometime......!

I did look at one out of my 4.6L engine and it looks VERY much similar! I think the bottom one opens once it heats up, as well as the top one......

Jack DeRyke had a great explanation of how it all worked in one of the POCA newsletters a while back........

BUT if it is working for you, great!!!! That is one of the symptoms of not working properly...over heating!

If you pop that center piece out of the intake, below the t-stat, and replace it with a flat plug, you can then run the regular T-stat...

Ciao!
Steve
