What Started It All -

In the summer of 1986 during a visit to Cape May NJ I saw this Pantera on the way to the beach. Until this point in life the most exotic car I had ever seen was a Ferrari 308. Needless to say, this stunning exotic left an impression on me. It was love at first site and as so many others have remarked, I also made the adolescent promise of "One day she will be mine!" I was lucky enough to keep good on my self-made promise and purchase a Pantera a few years back. However, I've often wondered who's car this was that lovestruck me so and set the quest in motion. It was 20 years ago, but perhaps someone may recognize it by the house it was parked at in Cape May.

There are/were not that many 1985-1986 GT5-S cars, especially in mid 1986, and already in the USA.

I'm scanning the photos in the Registry.

I've found a couple of cars with similar details.

I am using the bumper type, mirror type and location, the spoiler & wing combo, the wheel color, the front quarter panel light style, the antenna, the rear wheel side vent type/color... and some other details, which narrow it down.

It could be an Amerisport import, Stauffer import, or a gray market import, but the details indicate that it went thru non-gray channels (meaning someone went to the trouble to federalize it, that is why I suggest an Amerisport. Maybe Kirk Evans will recognize it.

This may not be in the Registry, however. Too bad you didn't get the plate or VIN.
