Had sold a part on EBay, stinking 20 dollar part, described it to the best I could, paid for extra pics to make sure crap like this doesnt happen. I get a negative from the guy, because he refuses to read the auction description or look at the stinking pics??? and now I have to file a complaint with ebay because he slams me in the feedback????? What a day.

That has been my experience with selling all my extra MGB parts. The MG'rs are the cheapest lot. They want "NEW" stuff for pennies on the dollars. Most of the parts wouldn't sell. I had a fresh re-built pair of lever arm shocks. They sold for $20 which far far less then a core charge is for a junk set. He sent me back a note that when he turned them upside down they leaked. THEY WERE USED! THEY WERE $20!

I agreed to take them back for his $20 less my postage and ebay fees. What a cheap bastard. He lost about $10 bucks in the end.

After a couple experiences like that with MGB parts and cheap ass MGB bastards I gathered up all my spare parts and threw them in the dumpster. They were not worth my time.
Gary,

I'm with you...As much as I hate to trash parts that may be of use to someone I stopped listing low $$ parts, by the time you do the groundwork to get them listed, pay all the fees, deal with payment, packing and shipping it just ain't worth the hassle.

I'm trying to sell the MGB at the moment, wrong time of year and as you say just a bunch of cheapo's that want a fully restored example for the cost of a basket case.
Jeff, You know there a 5% of people you'll never satisfy. I sold a fair amount of stuff on eBay (still cleaning out the garage) It was not a money making proposition, but it helped finance other more desirable items for my projects. I feel for you as I believe I am very honest with my listings. It disapoints me when 25% + of people do not respond to survey or rate the shipping slow: I usually get it in the mail within 24 hrs. Or when someone waits to the last 10 seconds to bid then takes 4 days to pay PayPal (even sometimes sends a check to PayPal ;( I now include a note in my shipping asking people to contact me if there are any issues with their purchase, but still many do not respond.
I am curious though what was his complaint about the pulley as these normally sell for $50-$60

I do fel for you ulian, I can't believe how many times I see a NICE MGB go for less then $5k and everyone jumps on board about how the buyer "Overpaid". I think Hmm, for a descent car? I got model airplanes with 2x this $ in it!

Edit, the buyer is typically called a fool for overbuying!

Lets see first it was because it didnt have a part number stamped on it, then it was because I used the Ford part number to represent what it was. With three pics any fool could have judged what this was, I think Im going to go along with you guys. Aint worth my time or the headaches for low dollar stuff.

I understand ebay can be frustrating. But please don't trash original stuff that isn't made anymore. I remember when I was fixing rust on 68 Camaro years ago, another guy had a similar car and bought new unoriginal fenders and put them on his car. And then he took his old somewhat rusted fenders and jumped on them and threw them out. A guy with some patience and a welder could easily have fixed them.

If selling on ebay for small amounts frustrates you, use the simple demand/price setting theory, just put the price up where you think it's worth your time. If it doesn't get sold, then at least you've given the world a chance, then you can trash it, if you must...

About feedback, don't worry about a few negatives, yes there are always some who are unreasonable. If a seller shows more than 10% unfavourable, then I'd think twice though.
