For shocks I still believe the QA1 (previously Carrera) are the best bang for the buck going. Available through Summit Racing or best price I found was through an Ebay seller Chassis_Warehouse $300 for a pair of the DR5855B single adjustables. Add your choice of spring rates at $35 ea and you can have all four corners covered for under $750.
Those listed above will get your a-arms level, if using a 12" spring the adjustment will be most of the way down the shock body, but that is what most using the QA1's run. You could go for a 10" spring or the next shock down (shorter) is the DR4855B model.
