In your Avatar your car looks to be a GT5-S so are you looking for 70's comparison or 80's?

I'll upload some photos, so this will become a photo thread, but no one usually complains about photos of Pantera's. The cars were likely not gray originally but the TUV officer doesn't need to know that!

Here's #1

Haha - Fingers crossed

Thanks a lot - this will hopefully helps. And yes aou are right.. it is a 88 GT5-S in grey.

Not sure if you are familiar with the German Historic regulations but to get a Historic license plate the TÜV Guy need some proof of the time the car has been registered. Depends on his mood if he will accept this without specific details like colour code or similar...

Well you could have said that the black car is a very, very dark gray? I don't know if I would tend to believe you before or after I had a couple of Cosmos? Cool
Hello Mark,

easy and simple to day : It depends on the inspector. To get a historical license plate some of the inspectors concentrates on item where you say: what the heck.... The colour for example is shown in the title and needs to match to the car. If you repspray it, the colour needs to be authentical in time the car was produced (+ 3-5 years variation) Wheels for example as well as mirrors, windows, brakes needs also be approved from this time but sometimes safety reasons are prior vs. stock.
One advantage is that this car isnt very 'kown' here and the Inspector likes it and supports me in the way he can. Soy why life making unconfortable ?

Anyway - I have my list of changes I need to do (and exhaust btw isn't an issue - I won't argue withe the inspector) and regarding colour he needs something which shows a more or less similar colour from this era. Guess why i now already start to the get things prepared.

Marc
Marc,

Is you car grey or silver? Silver was a much more common color and appears in lots of documentation of available color codes etc. of the period.

That said your car is a 9000 series, hand built to order and De Tomaso would paint it any color a customer wanted fora premium, so it is entirely possible there is only one of a particular color out there.

I have an email from Claudia Lodi confirming my 1989 (1988 build year) GT5 was painted metallic black, but there is no such colour on the factory paint swatches. I can send you both and you can use them as evidence that your car could have been a custom order.
I like the front arches - the line fits much better to the car than my one.
Sometimes I don't know what DeTomaso did...

OK back to topic - thanks for all the support and the photos. I really appreciate this.

Car is currently at the body shop for some upgrade. Will meet the owner Saturday for having a 'pre-discussion'.

Regards
Marc
