I recently stumbled into a source of the "woven wool" felt which I think was originally used to trim the front trunk. No idea if it was used on ALL Geese....my impression is that it got beat up quickly and was routinely replaced with a thicker non-woven 'Pantera' type felt. 8MA1010 had only the bottom panel still covered with this material (see photos), all other front trunk panels had 'Pantera' felt. The only other cars I've identified with the "woven" felt are 8MA936, 1072 & 1120. Must have been more originally!

The first 2 pics show the underside of my existing bottom panel covering (tho worse for wear, note the strip of neoprene that is adheared around the perimeter). The third pic shows the woven texture. The fourth pic is a possible source of new material. Reportedly the material has much clearer 'weave' texture in real life. I'm going to order some and will advise how it looks! Regards to all, Nate

SciFi, interesting, I've not seen felt on the gas tank (neither on 1046 or 1076, no sign of all there).
Nate, thanks for the notes, looking forward to your thoughts of how the samples look (another expert on this forum has also thought the Pantera felt was too thick). Any estimate how many yards are needed for the Goose ? Lee
The best way to ID front trunk felt is to remove bottom cover, there are always remnants there. I was able to match sample from my car at a upholstery remnant shop. I have seen one car with a thicker "berber' style carpet but that was the only one. The gas tank is normally covered with same carpet as the wheel arches, rear shelf and cabin floor. I can remember if the correct style is vintage Mercedes something or vintage Porsche something.
Denis, you are right, the engine compartment is covered in the Haargarn http://pantera.infopop.cc/eve/...0045562/m/8401082646

The felt I know if is all glued down, of course in the trunk (pan, walls, pedal box cover, radiator cover) but also underneath the Glove box.

Btw, I was surprised that not all Geese had a glove box, only a glove box door exposing the Ayacsa AC unit (so the Binky guys didn't invent that one Wink)--Lee
