I have one.

I was running these $35-$45 cheap "performance" pumps on my engine on the engine dyno when we ran my new motor.  You can purchase the chrome 351C pumps on eBay for $35-$45.  They would give a solid 4 lbs of fuel pressure at idle.  As RPMs rose, the output would drop off, and go nearly to 2.5 psi at 5500 RPM.  See the picture.

We tried the cheap Carters that you can buy at O'Reilly for $20.  Same thing, only worse.

My engine builder wouldn't keep running with this issue.  So we rigged up a electric pump for the rest of my dyno runs.

ANYWAY:

Subsequently, I bought the McRobb 550 HP Pump.

I have had to put a fuel pressure regulator to keep the pressure at a steady 5 psi (per my engine builder's recommendations).  No problems, it's a really high quality piece.  IIRC, it was $200 or so without the regulator and pressure gauge.

My only note is that the body of the pump has a slight interference with the oil filter.  Nothing serious, but you will scratch the paint off your filter on installation and removal.

I have not had any reason to complain, nor have I had any trouble.  That's a good thing - I recommend it.

The second picture shows the pressure regulator,  gauge, and some of the plumbing I set up to feed my engine.

I have the same issue, but it's just a minor nit.

I also installed the Ford550 (PN 1020) fuel pump. I also installed the Large 40 Micron Filter (PN 1029) - Up to 400 GPH, 1/2 NPT Ports, 5" L x 1-11/16" Dia. - if I recall correctly.

And, I plumbed the whole thing from the bottom of the tank with a Groco stainless steel marine fuel shutoff valve.
