I went and looked at a D2AE four bolt block today. I saw something I dont remember and it has me wondering what the deal is with it. On both decks there is a hole with a pin of some sort in it. It moves but is not loose in the hole. In the picture the hole in question is just above the headbolt hole. Any idea what this is for? Just want to make sure it is kosher before spending my money on it. Thanks for your help.

Its kosher.

The heads are located by dowels that are concentric with the two outer/lower head bolts on each bank, the holes you are puzzled about are not locating pin holes. BUT .... yes there is a little shallow hole on each side of the block in that location (between the two middle cylinders). Its normally got a little pin in it that's flush with the deck, so some guys think it is a round indentation in the deck and never realize there's actually a shallow hole there. I have no idea what the purpose is.
