Yep, we were talking about this car in the cars for sale page and one of the guys has driven this car and he says it has some problems. So this is great when even a Pantera with problems is going for 60, it means one without should go for a bunch more.
I think a lot the EBay auctions get jacked up by friends of the Seller. It's hard to prove, but it seems like it happens a lot.

I agree!
The only good deal for buyers seems to be when I sell a part.
It goes cheap, I guess I need more friends
A fix?
It has less ebay fees involved if it is a no sale.
Who's going to pay the added value commission, etc, your buddy, for fun?
No, I don't believe that. That is illogical.

I need to buy your auctions Mark, It seems like the stuff I bid on set a new historic high price.

I can only hope the buyer did his homework and knows there are problems. Otherwise, we end up with a new owner who feels like he got screwed by a less than forthright seller. And the Pantera reputation suffers accordingly.

Dave? You too?
How come it's only when I need to buy it that it sets a new high record and when I need to sell it, it sets new lows?

How could it get any worse than it already is with every talking head on tv and in magazines always harping how bad a car it is??? I mean come on, even at 60K there is no other V-8 mid-engined car that can touch it.
Come on guys!!!
You need to chill out about how great a deal Panteras are.......until I get one then promote away!!

I dunno Doug. Pantera owners are gtting to be senior citizens. Sooner or later we will die andthere will be a glut of Panteras on the market all at once. Most of the young people will have no idea what the hell these cars are so will assume they are not worth a thing. They may pay or survivors ten cents on the dollar for the scrap metal value. Then again, they may buy them and stick Honda fuel cell motors in. Or maybe even a Mr. Fusion reactor so they can run forever on a bannanna peal????
I'm 38 and the only people my age that know about the Pantera are people that have to listen to me talk about them.
But there is some good news...youngsters will be impressed if they see one. My wife (who is 28) went to look at at a '72 GT5 conversion with me last weekend and said "that car is beautiful, I want you to have it" and that was before she heard it run. All the younger designers that work for me love the die-cast model I have on my desk.
The problem is that no one ever sees them on the street. The guy that owns the Pantera I looked at (and hope to buy next week) has it parked in storage. He hasn't driven it in over a year.

But Robert, you are the xception to the rule. Sure when I take my car to shows and stuff the little kids go bonkers over it. They think it is like the batmobile or something. Most people just assume it is an exotic car so far out of reach, that it signifies the owner is a self absorbed arogant asshole with so much money to waste they no longer care. Well in my case it is all true except for the too much money part, but that's not the point. Er, what point was it I was making again?? I can't remember now, but it seemed like it was important, er, oh wait, now I remember!! Most Pantera owners are getting older. Did I say that already???
Hey listen, I'm only 34 and have wanted a Pantera in a serious way for quite some time. People just need to see the car in person and someone is going to fall in love with it, regardless of age. When gear heads mature they start looking into all sorts of cars.
I totally agree...people will love the Pantera if they can actually see one.
I think they will continue to catch on with a younger crowd with a little exposure. Just getting them out on the street helps.
And DeTom, are you saying that I'm NOT a self-absorbed arrogant asshole? Bwahaahaaa!

This is the car I looked at over the weekend. Talking to my banker now.
Must...have...the...car.

Well I'm older than DeTom and I sure don't feel old. Especially when I see a beautiful white car like that, Robert.
Forget "the people." What do they know?
Your wife is smart. She wants you to be happy. Getting that car will make you happy. Sometimes. Sometimes not. But hey, just kidnap the banker and make him an offer he can't refuse.

The Pantera is an Italian mistress. Once she gets under your skin, no matter how crazy she makes you, you can't help but love her.
So that's the car, huh Bob? BITCHEN!
(another white GT5, Jeez David, how many are there?)

How many are there? How much snow is there in Canada?
There's no limit.
I will eventually paint it if I buy it. I like the white cars, but they don't match my personal style.

That car went for $60k and this car has barely made $30k. This looks like a decent car. What gives??

Here is the one I like and it is only 70 miles from here. This is nice too. A bargin at the current price. Reserve met too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte...0090770258&rd=1&rd=1
They both look pretty nice. I guess Panteras are attracting low rollers these days.
It's gotta be the people. It isn't the cars.
