Here are a couple of photos of an old magazine article I've had for quite sometime. It's from "Car Life" magazine, May 1970.  It's an article on the upcoming new Ford Cobra (the Pantera).

For those who don't know, the Pantera was originally seen as the replacement for the Cobra; even the early factory blueprints referred to it as the Cobra.

True, in the technical drawings of the car, the earliest drawing (first one dated jan. 1970) the project is called "Detomaso 351", then later around april it's renamed "Detomaso cobra". Then later maybe around summer 1970 it's finally named "Pantera". Can't remember the exact dates, but the naming history can be traced through the drawings.
