I put my car on a scale last week. With about a half a tank of gas it was 2830 lbs. My car is a 74. Does any one else know what their car weighs? I'm not talking about an unconfirmed published number but a real " I weighed my car" number. I still have the AC on the car but I have aluminum heads, intake, starter, Wilwood brakes and the usual mods done.

I am looking forward to seeing what my weight is when the restoration is done. I have done away with some things but added other things.

I removed the A/C which actually was about 100lbs by the time you way the compressor, condenser, dryer, hoses etc. The roll bar added much of that back. I also replaced the jacking points by welding in heavier steel, aluminum hood, radiator, larger engine but aluminum heads, aluminum gas tank, aluminum side vents (suprising how heavy the others were). I don't know if I am up or down. I suspect everything is near a wash. I would like to stay below 3,000 if I can.

That is pretty light and your car has obviously had some serious thought to weight removal. I heard of people shedding ebrything and struggling to get down to 2750 lbs. Where's the weight gone, you have CF or fiberglass decklid/hood?
I've never made a list of what I removed before but I'll start one here. I'm sure I'll think of more later.
Aluminum radiator,water pump,intake,heads,mini starter,and a braille battery.
removed bumpers, spare tire, rear windows, charcoal cannister, radio, speakers and antenna. I carry a couple of cans of tire spooge in case I get a flat tire and a small pice of wood so I can slide it under the frame rail so I don't break the bead on the tire. If I did the cans of spooge I carry would be useless.
Changed iron compressor for AC and addded modern aluminum Sanden compressor.
Hollow swaybars, modern shocks and springs.
Full Wilwood rotors and calipers.
Vette seats from Gary Herrig,
Quad headlights from Kirk,
Racing wheels and R-1s all around.
The car is my daily driver, weather permitting, which in Chicago is maybe 7 or 8 months a year. I try to avoid rain with the R-1s but I'm not always successful. A Pantera is awful in bad weather. The defrosters are marginal at best.
That was the low hanging fruit as far as weight removal. In the future, as money allows, I want to go to CF on the front and rear, aluminum uprights, magnesium sideplates for the ZF, CV joints and shafts, and whatever else I can find. I have a deposit with Tod Buttermore for an aluminum 351c block so that should pull some weight out of the rear of the car. I've heard conflicting reports on the sideplates as to their durability and I've read on the other Pantera board about magnesium uprights becoming available. There's probably more stuff but that's what I can think of sitting here at the computer drinking a cup of coffee on a rainy Saturday morning.
