Johnk, I belive the 427 is a Cleveland based motor. Bored and stroked to 427. Your quesion has come up before. I can't say...try a search under engine tech using the keyword- Windsor.

Thanks, 427" is achievable in either a Cleveland or Windsor based motor, but Windsor strokers seems to be the rage right now. The motor at the top of the thread appears to be a Windsor, at least it has Windsor valve covers on what looks like aluminum Windsor heads..

Thanks again... .

There is "something" to stroking a windsor block ????

Need to post that topic in the "Engine tech advice & question"

Its the PI Motorsport 427 The HAMMER 540 hp

Thanks for your response, congrats, nice motor...

Sorry, so much inflection and meaning are lost on the net, this confuses me, it's a statement followed by a question mark.

"There is "something" to stroking a windsor block ????"

Not sure exactly what you meant.

Again, congrats..

Welcome JK

I'm not an expert on motor's, I'm an electronic engineer / Telecommunications superstar.

"something" about the Windsor is "or" may be better than the Cleveland when you modify them. Dont know all the details,,, But "somehow" it can develop more Power.

I think we could ask George Pence,, He much more knowledgeable than me when it comes to engines

You say you just got your Pantera,,, Right On,,, Owning a Pantera is the BOMB
JK,

I think that the main difference in the Cleveland and the Windsor is the cleveland has a shorter deck height at 9.2" as opposed to the Windsor's 9.5". This allows for a longer stroke and more displacement on the Windsor. Most people won't push the Cleveland past a 408 or 418 CI. I've seen Windsor's stroked to 460 CI before. (Hall's Purple Passion)

Also, the Windsor seems to be much more available in parts and in crate form.

Steve
