yes, seems strange ... think it has to do with the volume cars sold in those years...and the US way/urge/number of tuning ....When i look over here for Webers , the second, if not the first, hit is always... USA. When i read about manifolds...there's always a mention of the 1 piece Korman one .... Ebay go's Redline ... and so on. Try to find a triple weber setup in europe... thanks for a tip ! Wink

Off topic here but almost all my racing parts for my 2 Porsches 928 come from... yes, 928motorsports USA ! And i'm near the factory... Our local Porsche dealer had serious problems finding a timing belt tensioner for a '82... and delivered the wrong one.

Again, it's normal... if i see how many Porsches 928 or BMW 2.8/3 Bavaria are in the US... i have seen almost none here in Belgium for the last 40 years ....yes, nowadays a few as oldtimers in sunday fun rallys.

Saterday i see BMWCLASSICCARS... maybe they have a europe source for the weber setup.
so far the car has been a nightmare in making the electrics work...almost done Smiler typical after 20 years storage ?? and also sure malfunctions from the past that were never solved...so i got my doubts about the drive train , and despite very good communication with Korman Autoworks for Webers and headers, i opted for a engine swap.We will install rebuild limited slip differential,5 speed gearbox and... a tuned S38 M5 engine...420 HP... Eeker it will be faster then the Pantera ... ?? Mad Big Grin

Maybe- if you and your friends correct some of the as-built problems. While I've only worked on one CS (a 3.0), the main area was the rear suspension spring seats which were made of extremely thin metal and had cracked 2/3 of the way around at the top. I managed to trim & insert large steel washers in the pockets but access for a torch without completely stripping the car was a problem. I'd never had to do structural welds reaching through a rear side window and down thru a radio speaker hole!
Also, I hope all the pulleys and radiator tanks on your car are made of metal; the later models use plastic everywhere that goes brittle after a while and disintegrates. My friend from CA has yet to make it the 250 miles to our house in any of his two BMWs without something cracking. Twice he arrived on a trailer! You'd think they were built in Italy.....Good luck.

in Italy Big Grin... yes, we must check the body for corrosion but there are already new welded floors/beams and front fenders/nose ( in&out ) . Understand there are no more originals rolling without those new pieces due corrosion... in 44 years. They are indeed no better then a... pantera Wink
today we visited the Intrax factory with the Pantera were the BMW CS is finished with new adjustable coilovers and MCPershon fronts.New is also them ARC system build in the schocks, witch responds to either fast movements as road bumps either slow as taking a corner. So it adapts his stifness according the need ! Already liked by rallydrivers so they don't need to shake needless in between the timed stages. You can use softer springs as the schocks lock in corners......curious to test drive it coming weeks !

Now, the last few miles before the factory we crossed a grey Pantera GTS !!! we couldn't believe our eyes Smiler we tought to be THE exception .... once at the factory the guy was also driving in... he knewd, when he sees a car like that around there, it must be for Intrax ! It's a '82 GTS , guy is family of the Intrax company directors. Has his Pantera for about 10 years and sometimes the idea of selling it and again not. For the purists, the car needs a bit restoration, but seems original ,even the wheels ! was asking 50k €. I have pics but taking with my cellphone, forgot the camera...must look how i can upload those... Roll Eyes

Tomorrow we have a pre meeting for the Tulpenrally to come first week of may...which we will compete with the BMW. ( build year must be before '71 ) so my '86 GT5S was no go.

i have asked the guy ofcourse to have a peek at our forum ... he didn't know about it !
we give up on day 4 . Frowner But it was a nice experience !
It's much to difficult for my wife as copilot...alot have hired prof navigators !
Also the timing is to long every day... about 300 miles map reading... that was always + 10 hours driving....but fun... for me Big Grin
no, wife got stressed and i decided to end the rally in "beauty".Tryed to switch seats a half day but i can't do the map reading any better , maybe worse ( it isn't my thing ) and her driving became more "dangerous"....so no go.

somewere on a bridge

this weekend we drove The Belgian Classic Tour , saterday up to Germany Eifel and sunday back over Luxembourg... 700 km's regularity stages.. was fun and ended 5/16 in our division. We participated the easyest group, with only point/arrow marking situations for roads, the higher classes were also self derterming shortets routes on a map.... glad we found again the fun , sure for my wife ! She did it great reading the road and gained again some self respect/thrust , so we see for a repeat ! Wink We have no problem at all in time/speed, just some routine in talk what the driver see and what the navigator thinks to see in books... Big Grin

in a forest stage.. i had to pee Frowner Big Grin
